I am not the type of person that has to have the latest, and the greatest.  I have flat panel tvs throughout my home, and they are not current models.  Being a installation technician I sometimes get to experience technology without having to purchase it.  I have noticed more, and more companies trying to sell the 3D televisions.  While they may be great purchases for a small family I don’t forsee them making it very far because of some of the important factors.

The cost of the newest technology isn’t very low currently, and won’t be low for some time.  The televisions have to flood the market before the companies are willing to drop the prices.

The majority of the tvs come with 3D glasses.  If someone was to lose, or break them, then they would have to replace those glasses, and the cost is not cheap.

If you are going to have a gathering, and want to show something that you have in 3D, then everyone will need a pair of glasses.  Why would someone purchase extra glasses for the very “Occassional” gathering?  This also will not be cheap.

When it comes to video gaming I am at the companies mercy.  I love playing video games, and if I could get a 3D television for almost nothing, then I think that I would.  Video gaming on the PS3 will be out of this world.  Other systems may support 3D well, but I still think that Sony will be the leader in equipment because they have always been an innovator.

The people that will most definitelly want to purchase these televisions are the “Adult” minded people.  From my understanding the film industry is already starting to shoot movies in 3D.  That would be a great experience I am sure, and most of the guys watching won’t need extenze after watching a flick. 

If, and when I do ever get a 3D television it will be a Sony.  Why?  The Sony name itself is one reason.  Another is that you can watch it in 3D, and regular at the same time.  This makes it so if you don’t have enough glasses everyone can still watch.
